Kathu is away from the island’s beaches and tourist zones, but there is still a small live music scene there focused mainly on the Thai community.
Very close to the major crossroards in the centre of Kathu on the road to Patong Hill is Krua Nok Baan (kitchen outside the house).This is very much the place to hear Thai music with an excellent house band playing country Thai songs. It’s well worth a visit to get that authentic experience. Take a trip around the corner and on the approach to Patong Hill you will find Packjai (rest your heart) which has more varied music ranging from solo acts to full-on Rock and Blues. Finally, opposite the golf course entry is Saai Sot (Live Wire) with bands playing Classic Rock.
